This course builds on the foundational skills of Procedures and Treatments 1, deepening students’ understanding of scalp health, hair loss, and preventative care. Learners will explore scalp conditions, including dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, alopecia, and the visible signs of melanoma. Importance is placed on developing professional observation skills to identify abnormal scalp conditions and refer to a physician when appropriate. Students will continue to refine shampooing and scalp treatment techniques, while enhancing the overall client experience. An independent capstone project allows students to research and present findings on a chosen scalp condition, promoting industry knowledge and public awareness.
